COSMOS ORGANIC

The COSMOS standard defines the criteria that companies must meet to assure consumers that their products are genuine organic or natural cosmetics produced according to the highest possible sustainability practices.

The COSMOS Standard Signature is a consumer assurance for organic and natural cosmetics that can be trusted. To date, over 29,000 products in 71 countries carry our COSMOS ORGANIC or COSMOS NATURAL signature. Over 12,000 ingredients carry our COSMOS CERTIFIED signature. Over 7,000 raw materials carry our COSMOS APPROVED signature.

The COSMOS standard is the result of a cooperation of European standard organizations and certification bodies. The COSMOS standard is used worldwide and IONC GmbH is authorized to issue the COSMOS signatures "COSMOS NATURAL" and "COSMOS ORGANIC" for end products as well as "COSMOS CERTIFIED" and "COSMOS APPROVED" for raw materials together with the control mark of the BDIH. The authorization is based on an accreditation according to the COSMOS standard and an associated continuous control by an accreditation body.

agroVet is authorized to perform audits on behalf of the IONC and, if necessary, to combine them with audits according to the Austrian guideline on organic production (organic cosmetics).
The audit result is transmitted to the IONC.
Evaluations of raw materials, formulations or the various COSMOS signatures are the sole responsibility of the IONC.
Audit costs are settled via the IONC.

Please note that an initial registration must be made directly with the IONC.
You are welcome to specify agroVet GmbH as the inspection body. After your registration with the IONC, we will be commissioned to carry out the audit.

We offer you the possibility to have your assortment audited within the framework of a combined audit (COSMOS & Austrian guideline for organic cosmetics). This keeps the time required for the audits and the costs as low as possible. The certification decision for the use of one of the COSMOS signatures is the sole responsibility of the IONC.
